The New Mexico Caveats, Honestly
Hard water. Albuquerque’s mineral content scales a compact heat exchanger faster than it scales a tank. Annual descaling is not optional here — it is what determines whether you get twenty years or eight. A water softener substantially reduces that burden and protects your fixtures too.
Cold incoming water. Our groundwater arrives cold, especially in winter, which means a larger temperature rise and therefore lower usable flow than the same unit delivers in a warm climate. Undersizing is the most common tankless mistake in this market.
Installation Requirements
Gas models typically need a larger gas line than the tank they replace, plus dedicated venting. Electric models need substantial panel capacity. Neither is a barrier, but both belong in the quote rather than being discovered mid-install.
