What the Camera Has to Confirm
Symptoms suggest; a camera inspection decides. Replacement is warranted when it shows a collapsed or crushed section, cracking and joint separation along the length rather than at one point, root intrusion at many joints, a belly deep enough that solids settle permanently, or Orangeburg pipe — a bituminous fiber material used mid-century that deforms and fails outright and cannot be reliably repaired.

If damage is confined to one section, a spot repair costs a fraction of full replacement. If the line is sound but coated with grease or has roots at one entry point, hydrojetting plus a maintenance schedule may be the whole answer.
