Evaporative Cooling Genuinely Works Here
Albuquerque is one of the few places in the country where evaporative cooling is not a compromise. Our air is dry enough for most of the summer that a well-maintained cooler will drop indoor temperatures substantially at a fraction of the running cost of refrigerated air.
The exception is the monsoon. When humidity climbs through July and August, evaporative capacity falls away exactly when you need it most — and that is the stretch that pushes most homeowners toward thinking about a conversion.
We service both systems, so we have no reason to steer you either way. Sometimes the honest recommendation is a new evaporative unit, and we will say so.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are swamp coolers still worth it in Albuquerque?
For much of the summer, genuinely yes — they cool well and cost far less to run. The weak point is the monsoon, when humidity undercuts them.
How often do pads need replacing?
Usually once a season here. Hard water leaves mineral on the pads that blocks airflow well before the pad wears out.
Should I convert to refrigerated air?
It depends on your tolerance for the monsoon weeks, your ductwork and your panel capacity. We will price both and explain the trade-offs.
Do you do winterisation?
Yes. Draining, blowing out the water line and covering the unit prevents the freeze damage that causes most spring start-up problems.
