Hydrojetting cleans drain and sewer lines with high-pressure water delivered through a specialized nozzle. Forward-facing jets cut through the blockage while rear-facing jets propel the hose and scour the pipe wall on the way back — restoring the line to its full inside diameter rather than just opening a channel.
How It Actually Works
A hose with a purpose-built nozzle is fed into the line through a cleanout. Water is delivered at high pressure. The rear-facing jets do two jobs simultaneously: they drive the hose forward through the pipe, and they blast the pipe wall from the inside, stripping off grease, soap scum, mineral scale, and root hairs. Debris is flushed downstream to the main.
Nozzles are selected for the job — different heads for grease, roots, and sediment — and pressure is adjustable to suit the pipe’s material and condition.
Why It Beats Cabling for Buildup
This is the key distinction. A cable bores a hole through a blockage and restores flow. That works, but it leaves the coating on the pipe wall intact — so the line narrows again and re-clogs, often within months. Hydrojetting removes the coating itself, which is why it can buy years instead of months.

The Honest Limitation
Hydrojetting is safe on sound pipe of any material at appropriate pressure — but on cast iron that has corroded thin, or clay with separated joints, high pressure can worsen existing damage. That is why we run a camera inspection first on any older line and match method and pressure to actual condition. It is also why hydrojetting is not the right answer for a line that needs repair rather than cleaning.
