Coil-Mounted UV — The Application That Matters
Your evaporator coil is cold and damp whenever the system runs. In a dry-climate home it is the one reliably moist surface, and it is exactly where mold and bacteria take hold. A UV lamp aimed at that coil prevents growth continuously — which keeps contamination out of your airstream and keeps the coil clean, directly improving heat transfer and reducing run time.
That second benefit is real and often overlooked: a fouled coil costs you efficiency every cycle.
In-Duct Air Sterilization
Lamps mounted in the ductwork treat air as it passes. This helps, but air moves quickly past the lamp so exposure time is limited — it is less effective than marketing typically implies. We install it where it makes sense, and we will tell you honestly how it compares to coil-mounted.
What UV Does Not Do
Dust, pollen, and pet dander pass through UV light completely unaffected. If those are your concern — and in Albuquerque, with our dust load and cottonwood and juniper pollen, they usually are — you need filtration.
