What to Do Before We Arrive — Either Way
Shut off the water. Know where your main shutoff is before you need it — for a business, make sure more than one person on staff knows. Kill power to affected areas if safe, contain water, and move inventory or equipment clear. For a sewage backup, stop using every fixture in the building.
Preventing the Next One
Most emergencies are deferred maintenance arriving at the worst moment. Annual plumbing inspections catch the corroded shutoff, the failing supply line, and the water heater at end of life. Commercial properties can put maintenance on a scheduled agreement, and residential customers can bundle it through the Care Club for priority dispatch.
