How to Choose

Match the outdoor unit. A mismatched indoor and outdoor combination underperforms both ratings — the pair is engineered to work together.

Consider your ductwork. This matters more than people expect. Variable-speed motors deliver their benefit by running long and slow, which requires ductwork that can move air at low static pressure. On undersized or leaky ducts, you pay the premium and do not get the performance. We evaluate duct capacity before recommending.

Weigh variable-speed honestly. The electricity savings are real, and so is the comfort improvement — longer run cycles mix air between rooms and dehumidify better during monsoon weeks. Whether the premium pays back depends on your run hours and how much the uneven-temperature complaint bothers you.
