We install and service air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-split heat pumps, and geothermal systems, working primarily with Coleman and Bryant equipment while servicing all major brands. Air-source systems are by far the most common choice in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe metros.
Air-Source Heat Pumps
The standard whole-home option: one outdoor unit and one indoor air handler providing both heating and cooling through existing ductwork. Modern variable-speed models handle New Mexico’s 40-degree daily temperature swings well, modulating output instead of cycling hard on and off. They are at their most efficient during our long shoulder seasons, which is a substantial share of the year here.
Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pumps
One outdoor unit feeding one or more wall or ceiling heads, with no ductwork required. These are the right answer for casitas, additions, converted garages, sunrooms, and older adobe homes that never had ducts — and for solving a single room that has never been comfortable without re-engineering the whole system. Fujitsu is our primary mini-split line.
Geothermal Heat Pumps
Ground-source systems exchange heat with the earth rather than outdoor air, which makes them the most efficient option available and largely immune to outdoor temperature extremes. Installation cost is significantly higher because of the ground loop, and they require suitable lot conditions — so they make sense on a narrower set of properties, but on the right property the operating cost is hard to beat.
Hybrid Fuel Systems
Not a heat pump type so much as a pairing: a heat pump handles most of the year and a gas furnace takes over below a set outdoor temperature. In Santa Fe, Cedar Crest, and the East Mountains, where deep cold is routine, a hybrid fuel system frequently beats a heat pump alone on both comfort and operating cost.
Choosing Between Them
Existing ductwork, home size and layout, insulation levels, elevation, budget, and how cold your specific microclimate gets all factor in — the East Mountains and the North Valley are genuinely different design problems. We run a load calculation rather than guessing, and we service what we install. Financing is available.
